During his career as one of Italy’s top entertainers, Jovanotti (born Lorenzo Cherubini Jovanotti) has performed a number of love songs. However, no sound has ever been as sweet to his ears as the peal of wedding bells on the day he was joined in marriage with his love of the past 15 years, Francesca Valiani. A crowd of well wishers encircled the perimeter around the church of Santa Maria Nuova in Cortona on September 6, 2008 for a glimpse of the groom in his top hat, white tie and tails and his bride, who donned a white, long-sleeve wedding dress for the occasion.
Following the hour-long exchange of vows, early afternoon rays of light bathed the town which was so poignantly captured in the novel Under the Tuscan Sun as family and friends waited outside for the newlyweds. Exiting the church, the newly pronounced husband and wife clasped hands with their nine-year-old daughter as a shower of confetti christened their union.
