Six years after his debut CD “What My Heart Wants To Say” reached the top of the charts, 2002 Pop Idol runner-up Gareth Gates found the words to say what his heart longed to express as he said “I do” to his love, Suzanne Mole. Keeping wedding details a cherished secret for the moment, the media was only informed that the couple were pronounced husband and wife on July 18, 2008, the Daily Mail revealed. According to reports, the groom’s speech therapist, who helped the singer overcome his impediment, apparently stood by his former patient’s side as best man.
The ceremony marks the fruition of a five-year romance which led to a December 31, 2007 proposal of marriage.
UPDATE: Although only a privileged few were privy to the details of Gareth Gates and Suzanne Mole’s wedding ceremony during their first few days of married life, the happy news of their union was not concealed for long. According to the Grantham Journal, the chart-topper and his bride professed their devotion to each other in a ceremony held at Belvoir Castle, the home of the Duke and Duchess of Rutland. A popular tourist attraction, the castle is a familiar site to movie enthusiasts from its appearances in The Da Vinci Code, The Haunting and Young Sherlock Holmes. The stately manor will soon star alongside Emily Blunt and Paul Bettany in Young Victoria, the upcoming cinematic portrayal of the former monarch.
