As Tony Award-winning actress Marissa Jaret Winokur attempts to waltz her way to victory with her dancing partner Tony Dovolani in season six of Dancing with the Stars, Lovetripper takes a look back to the day in 2006 when the showstopping Broadway beauty was hitched Hawaiian-style to her love, Judah Miller:
Deciding that there’s no place like home to begin their life together as husband and wife, Broadway star Marissa Jaret Winokur walked to the back lawn of the Toluka Lake, California residence she shares with Judah Miller, who had proposed on July 4, 2005 and waited for her on October 7, 2006 at the end of the aisle. Dressed in a body-conscious, halter style gown which evoked images of old Hollywood glamour, the bride walked past nearly 200 friends and family members who stood in her honor, including former Xena: Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless, Ricki Lake and Tinseltown twosome Harry Hamlin and Lisa Renna, who surely thought back to their own 1997 wedding as they watched the bride take the groom’s hand at the start of the ceremony.
Their shadows stretching on the grass as the sun began to melt into the horizon, the groom placed a wedding band to accompany the bride’s 5.5-carat sapphire engagement ring on her finger during a ceremony which honored their Jewish heritage. In a preview to the Hawaiian-style reception they would later enjoy, the groom took off the lei he wore and draped it over the head of his new wife, while she in turn presented hers to her new husband, InStyle Weddings revealed.
Although darkness had dominated the sky by the conclusion of the nuptials, the yard of the newly-pronounced Mr. and Mrs. was illuminated by the flicking lights of fire dancers as the swiveling hips of hula dancers entranced the crowd during a post-wedding party. Guests sampled sushi and mahimahi during dinner, while cupcakes capped off their feast.
