On November 24, 2007, actress Courtney Ford said “I do” to her hero, Superman Returns star Brandon Routh. The couple, whose romance began four years ago, took their first steps toward a lifetime of happiness together at the El Capitan Ranch, a Santa Barbara, California spread owned by producer Jon Peters. One hundred and fifty guests (the groom’s Superman Returns co-star Kate Bosworth and director Bryan Singer reportedly among them,) looked on as three bridesmaids in crimson-hued creations walked down the aisle ahead of the bride, the platinum beads sparkling on her sheath silhouette by designer Junko Yoshioka (who also created bridal attire for actress Claire Forlani and Private Practice cast member KaDee Strickland) as she walked toward the altar, People magazine online reports, where the groom stood in a cashmere suit by Looysen Fine Clothing, the atelier that garbed the Man of Steel for the premieres of Superman Returns around the globe.
After the exchange of rings, in which the groom placed a wedding band to accompany the $42,000 Neil Lane engagement ring his love has worn since August 2006, the ceremony concluded with a finale the likes of which can usually only be seen in the movies, as fountains shot forth a jubilant explosion of water the moment the two lovers kissed for the first time as husband and wife, according to Entertainment Tonight.
Later, as they cut slices of a six-tier, vanilla wedding cake, family and friends gathered in a tent erected on the ranch to give their best wishes the newlyweds, who will soon appear together on the big screen in the indie feature Lie To Me.
