02707: Wedding of Former Milwaukee Brewers Pitcher

On November 3, 2007, one-time Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Jon Steitz, who walked away from the baseball diamond due to injury in 2003, placed a wedding band on to the hand of Katherine Van Loon, the New York Times reports. Bridesmaids in periwinkle-hued gowns clutched bouquets of blue and yellow flowers as they walked down the aisle of Cloister Chapel, located on the grounds of Georgia’s The Cloister at Sea Island resort, their presence marking the imminent arrival of the bride, who carried a cluster of white roses as her pair of satin Jimmy Choo shoes carried her past family and friends to the altar, where the groom waited to make her his wife. Best man Craig Breslow, a relief pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, watched as the bride, dressed an a refined ivory silhouette, a look she topped with a diaphanous veil, received a wedding band from her love of the past five years.
