82607: Irish Castle Wedding for Boyzone’s Shane Lynch

Although legally deemed husband and wife on August 11th during a civil ceremony in Kent, England, former Boyzone member Shane Lynch and his bride, Sheena White, were joined in the bonds of holy matrimony during a religious blessing of their union on August 22, 2007 at Ireland’s Kinnitty Castle. Ensconced within the stronghold on their special day, the newlyweds remained far from the prying eyes of the paparazzi, who snapped photos of smiling guests, including the groom’s band mates Ronan Keating and Mickey Graham and Boyzone’s manager Louis Walsh, as they drove up to the 10,000 acre estate.

Built on the site of the original 13th century Kinnitty Castle, the manor’s ghost, a monk rumored to reside in the Great Hall of the O’Carroll’s, may have been a silent witness during the couple’s celebration, as well as that of other marriage-minded celebrities over the years. As the son of rock ‘n’ roll’s prince of darkness, the Gothic revival retreat seemed a fitting locale when Louis Osbourne said “I do.” Def Leppard’s vocalist Joe Elliot walked through County Offaly’s portal to the past to begin a new life with the woman he loves, and Shane Lynch’s sister, pop performer Edele Lynch, enjoyed a wedding reception at the castle following her 2006 nuptials at St. Flannan’s Church.
