81507: Surrey Wedding for Chris Evans

BBC Radio Two DJ Chris Evans and professional golfer Natasha Shishmanian walked into the Guildford Register office in Surrey, England on August 11, 2007 and were pronounced husband and wife in a civil ceremony. The low-key wedding locale came as a surprise to members of the media, who presumed that the pair would pledge their devotion in Portugal. The couple had been engaged since early July 2007, when the on-air personality proposed to his love of the past nine months over dinner at the O’Alambique restaurant in the Portuguese city of Quinta do Lago.

The wedding came on the heels of the radio jock’s divorce from Billie Piper, better known to sci-fi fans as the Time Lord’s traveling companion Rose Tyler during two seasons of the TV cult favorite, “Doctor Who.” The actress, who had worn a pink sarong paired with a white blouse to say “I do” to Evans on May 6, 2001 at the Little Church of the West in Las Vegas, recently postponed her own July 2007 walk down the aisle with actor Laurence Fox, which is reportedly now to take place on Christmas Eve 2007 in the Cotswolds.
