One day after officially becoming husband and wife in a civil ceremony, actress Eva Longoria picked up a bouquet of white phalaenopsis orchid stems and lilies and began to walk toward the altar of the Church of Saint Germain l’Auxerrois, where San Antonio Spurs point guard Tony Parker waited to receive a religious blessing of their union. Two hundred and fifty guests, ushered to their seats by former “Saved By The Bell” star Mario Lopez and John Salazar, rose in honor of the bride as she made her entrance in the house of worship which once echoed with the prayers of French royalty and walked down the aisle in a pair of Sergio Rossi shoes. Perfumed petals from white roses, which had been sprinkled along the path by two flower girls, were lightly brushed by the 10-foot train of the bride’s off-white Angel Sanchez silk wool wedding dress as the actress made her way to the altar, where she pledged her love in her new husband’s native tongue, while he recited his vows in English. During the ceremony, the silver metallic embroidery on the bride’s mermaid-styled gown sparkled in the light as she presented the basketball star with a Piaget white gold “Possession” wedding band and he slipped an 18K white gold band, accented with 80 brilliant-cut diamonds which flank a row of 27 square-cut diamonds, on to her finger, which now accompany the 5-carat, emerald-cut diamond engagement ring the TV star has worn since November 2006.
Following the ceremony, fans waved to the newlyweds as a black Rolls Royce Phantom drove past, taking the couple to a reception held at Chateau Vaux le Vicomte. Inside tents erected in the venue’s garden, guests Jessica Alba, Sheryl Crow and the bride’s “Desperate Housewives” co-stars Teri Hatcher, Nicollette Sheridan and Felicity Huffman, each of whom received a Van Cleef and Arpels Sweet Alhambra 18K gold bracelet embellished with a mother-of-pearl good luck clover charm as a remembrance of the day, dined on such delicacies as sea bass filet, creamy truffle risotto and slices of a vanilla bean pound wedding cake with a raspberry filling, each of its five tiers embellished with sugar flowers. Family and friends drank toasts to the happy couple from glasses containing chablis and margaux wines, then watched as the newlyweds took to the dance floor to sway to the music of Peter Gabriel’s “Book of Love.” All the wedding festivities received exclusive coverage in OK! magazine.
As filming was soon to resume on the set of “Desperate Housewives,” the newly-dubbed Mr. and Mrs. Parker had time for only a brief honeymoon. Before saying au revoir to their reception venue, however, the newlyweds took time to inscibe a slate for the chateau’s new rooftop. In a flourished script, the actress wrote “Gros bisous!” (Big kisses!) along with their July 7, 2007 wedding date, while the groom displayed his spirit for his team, writing “Go Spurs!” by his name and jersey number.
