62007: Steven Gerrard’s Cliveden House Wedding

Cliveden House Hotel, an 18th century edifice recognizable to Beatles buffs as appearing in the group’s 1965 comedy “Help!,” welcomed the friends and family of soccer star Steven Gerrard and his love Alex Curran for a three-day getaway which included a walk down the aisle for the celebrated couple on June 16, 2007. Following a day spent perfecting their putts on the hotel’s golf course and rejuvenating at The Pavilion Spa, select guests gathered in the Great Hall to witness the bride, reportedly dressed in an Ellie Saab design, receive a wedding band to accompany her 10-carat engagement ring.

Following the ceremony, 200 guests cheered the newlyweds as they entered a marquee erected on the 376-acre estate for a “Saturday Night Fever”-themed fete. As guests dined on fish and chips, curry and mashed potatoes, the bride and groom cut slices of a six-foot tall wedding cake.
