Creating waves of excitement among royal watchers, Princess Cruises has announced that The Duchess of Cambridge– who will welcome the newest addition to the British royal family this summer–will christen the newest addition to the line’s fleet on June 13th.
Fans of both cruises and the Duchess of Cambridge will gather in Southampton for a ceremony complete with a performance by the Royal Marines Band and the pipers of the Irish Guards which, together with contemporary highlights, promises to make the event the highlight of a week-long celebration to welcome the new vessel, the Royal Princess.
Certain to be a jewel in the cruise line’s crown, the Royal Princess will bear 3,600 passengers in style on its voyages. The ship offers an expanded atrium; an over-water SeaWalk (a top-deck glass-bottomed walkway extending 28 feet beyond the edge of the ship); plush private poolside cabanas that offer the illusion of floating on water; the new Princess Live! television studio; the largest pastry shop at sea; a special Chef’s Table Lumiere, a private dining experience that surrounds diners in a curtain of light; and balconies on all outside staterooms.
The Royal Princess will set sail on her maiden voyage on June 16th.
