Actor Chris O’Dowd, who starred as Officer Nathan Rhodes in the maritally-minded comedy Bridesmaids, has taken on the real life role of a prospective groom.
Following in the footsteps of his Bridesmaids co-star Ellie Kemper, who recently became betrothed to former Late Night with Conan O’Brien writer Michael Koman, the Guernsey Press reports that O’Dowd presented television presenter Dawn Porter with an emerald engagement ring on Boxing Day (December 26, 2011) on a sea wall in Havelet Bay during a holiday getaway on the British Channel Island of Guernsey, where his bride-to-be spent her formative years.
Taking to Twitter to announce the happy news, the actor told fans: “I’m so bored of all this happiness and sex. I’m getting married. #engaged”, while Porter, who had once written on her web site that “I know what true love is, i have seen it, and I wont settle for anything less than it in its purest form. if it takes a lifetime to find it, then so be it.” playfully pronounced “I guess he liked it, coz he put a ring on it #engaged”
Although they have yet to make definitive plans regarding their impending I do’s, the future bride confided to the Guernsey newspaper that the couple are contemplating a summer ceremony either in Guernsey or London.
