Royal romance is in the air in 2011. Having recently witnessed the start of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s marriage, wedding watchers who have been anxiously awaiting July’s joining in matrimony of Monaco’s Prince Albert and Charlene Wittstock and Zara Phillips (the daughter of Britain’s Princess Anne) and Mike Tindall now have another regal occasion to celebrate– the impending I do’s of Bhutan’s King, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck.
Having found the queen of his heart, the world’s youngest monarch professed at the opening of Parliament on May 20, 2011 that he would wed Jetsun Pema. The 21-year-old student of Regents College in London, praised by the king as “warm and kind in heart and character,” has already begun to learn the duties of her future role by accompanying her prospective groom on official trips.
According to BBC News, the happy couple will be pronounced husband and wife in October 2011.
