The Queen Victoria, which has ruled the waves since December 2007, was recently reunited with the royal that christened her when Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall boarded the luxury liner during the ship’s first trip to Liverpool.
After chatting with the crew that maintains the majestic vessel and the guests who had gathered to greet the ship’s regal Godmother, Her Royal Highness sounded the midday whistle and unveiled a silver plaque before charting a course to The Queens Room, where she cut the initial slice of a cake commemorating the 170th anniversary of the launch of Cunard’s first liner. The Britannia left port from Liverpool in July 1840.
Passengers can enjoy the royal treatment when the Queen Victoria sets sail on her first Americas season. The cruise liner, along with the Queen Mary 2 and the Queen Elizabeth, will reflect on the waters of New York Harbor on January 13, 2011. The liner is also scheduled to traverse the Panama Canal, make two round trips from Los Angeles to Hawaii and take travelers on the debut of the Mexico Getaway voyage.
