Katherine Heigl Receives Award at The Plaza Hotel

Her days on Grey’s Anatomy may be behind her, but when it comes to saving our four-legged friends actress Katherine Heigl is just what the doctor ordered. On April 15, 2010 the star of the upcoming action comedy Killers was honored by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals with a Presidential Service Award during the 13th annual Bergh Ball at The Plaza Hotel in New York City.

According to Red Carpet Fashion Awards, the Emmy winner wore a Lyn Devon design for the ceremony, and happily posed for posterity with designer/dog devotee Isaac Mizrahi and a photogenic Fido named Philly.

A doting pet parent to six dogs and three cats, Heigl confessed that she hopes to add one more to her brood of barking and purring pals, but even if another four-legged family member is not in her future the actress has made it possible for other families to find a forever friend through the Jason Debus Heigl Foundation and Heigl’s Hounds of Hope.
