Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands’ Wedding: A Look Back

Protests did not dim the pageantry on March 10, 1966 as Princess Beatrix (today Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands) was joined in matrimony to the man who would be her prince, Claus von Amsberg.
In true fairy tale fashion, a gold horse-drawn carriage bore the bride to Westerkerk in Amsterdam for the nuptials. A red carpet paved the path to the altar for the bride, who wore a gown of silk and duchesse satin created by Caroline Berge-Farwick of Maison Linette, The Royal Forums reports.
A lasting union, the couple were parted by the prince’s passing in 2002.
