Nordic Combined US gold and silver medalist Bill Demong, who proudly held the stars and stripes aloft as the flag bearer in the Olympics closing ceremony, will be choosing a ring bearer in the future, as the athlete has asked Katie Koczynski to be his wife.
According to the New York Times, the Olympian had yet another reason to celebrate at his gold medal victory party on February 25, 2010, as his bride-to-be accepted a proposal on bended knee on stage at a house rented for the US Ski Team. Koczynski, who gave her Olympic love a kiss at the finish line of the individual competition, was presented with a heirloom sparkler which had once belonged to the athlete’s great-aunt. Demong, who had been planning on proposing for months, had slipped the ring inside his backpack before the start of the race.
