U2 Members Attend Society Wedding

April 25, 2009 was a “Beautiful Day” for a wedding, as U2 band members The Edge and Larry Mullen can attest. The rock icons, along with actress Sarah Bolger (The Spiderwick Chronicles) and 350 family and friends gathered on the spring day at Christ Church in Celbridge, County Kildare, Ireland to witness former US Ambassador to Ireland Thomas Foley and Leslie Ann Fahrenkopf united in matrimony.

Rising from the pews in the bride’s honor, guests got their first glimpse of the former associate counsel to the President in her Carolina Herrera wedding dress. The ruffled hem of the garment’s skirt gently brushing the aisle, the diaphanous fabric of her trailing veil provided an ethereal element to the bride’s look as she floated past the congregation.

Following the exchange of vows, the newlyweds drank champagne toasts to their happiness in the vintage vehicle which whisked the couple to their reception at Castletown House, the Independent reports.
