As 2008 cames to a close, Lovetripper takes a look back at some of the stylish silhouettes the stars wore when they said "I do." What's your pick for the year's dreamiest wedding dress?
1) Portia de Rossi-- While only time will tell if same sex marriages will once again be legally recognized in the state of California, there's no doubt that the former Arrested Development star will always feel married in her heart to talk show dynamo Ellen DeGeneres after a romantic wedding ceremony held at the couple's Los Angeles home. For their special day, the actress donned a blush pink Zac Posen creation consisting of a halter top top which flowed into a full, ballgown skirt.
2) Jenna Bush-- Republicans and Democrats alike agreed that the Oscar de la Renta gown (seen in the photo below) worn by the President's daughter to her wedding with Henry Hager was a dream design. Constructed of silk organza accented with embroidery and matte beading, the couturier's creation blended high society sophistication into the down home ceremony held on the grounds of the family's Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas.
3) Roselyn Sanchez-- Without a Trace of doubt in her mind, the actress donned a strapless creation by Angel Sanchez, the same designer who has also concocted the wedding day dress of one of the invited guests, Eva Longoria-Parker. Putting her fashionable foot forward, the scarlet soles of her Christian Louboutin stilettos added an element of color as she walked down the aisle in the ruffled raiment toward her groom, actor Eric Winter.
4) Shauna Wilcox-- Wearing the year's most lavish look, the bride of Baltimore Ravens star Daniel Wilcox scored a touchdown with her Prina Tornai design. A lace-edged veil draped over the gown's folds, which cascaded to a cathedral length as she stepped out of a Cinderella carriage and walked to the 50-yard line of the M&T Bank Stadium for the ceremony.

6) Mariah Carey-- A pair of Christian Louboutin stilettos prevented the hem of Grammy Award winner's Nile Cmylo wedding dress from shifting in the sand of her Windemere Island estate as she exchanged vows with Nick Cannon during a sunset ceremony. The fabric of the curve-conscious creation was off-white, transforming into a pale pink which harmonized with the hue of the emerald-cut diamond which takes center stage on the singer's Jacob the Jeweler engagement ring.

The happy couple were united in matrimony in the presence of the bride's one-time small screen siblings Mackenzie Rosman and Jessica Biel (who attended with beau Justin Timberlake) at the Santa Maria della Gradillo church in Ravello, Italy.
9) Jewel Kilcher-- The ivory lace of the Grammy Award winner's Monique Lhuillier gown was bathed in candlelight as she stepped on to the sands at The Cove Atlantis for a nighttime ceremony with rodeo champion Ty Murray.
10) Ivana Trump-- Although the marriage did not stand the test of time, the socialite will always have the memory of wearing her Zuhair Murad wedding dress on the day she said "I do" to Rossano Rubicondi at the Mar-a-Lago estate. 1) Beyonce-- While she sings her support for "Single Ladies" in her latest hit, the Grammy Award winner changed her marital status in April of 2008 when she said "I do" to long-time love Jay-Z. Although the superstar has stated that she did not want an engagement ring, the $5 million, 18-carat emerald cut diamond on a platinum band from jeweler Lorraine Schwartz-- which made its public debut in September 2008-- is viewed by many in the media as a sparkler with the dual role of engagement and wedding ring. Whatever the reason for the rock, this ring is a winner.
2) Mariah Carey-- Through her vocal virtuosity, she has risen to the top spot on the charts more than any solo artist, and now she's number one in the heart of actor Nick Cannon, who became her husband on April 30, 2008. The pre-"I do" design, crafted by jeweler Sonia Boyajian, was paired with a wedding band on September 27, 2008.

An item for almost two years, the bride-to-be's co-star Vincent Kartheiser played Cupid for the couple by introducing the actress to the star of the upcoming TNT series Trust Me.
A date for the impending "I do" has not been announced.
Since the start of their romance in September 2007, Carole Rome has been first in the heart of the man she loves. On December 12, 2008 the socialite also became the First Lady of Florida as she said "I do" to Governor Charlie Crist. Olympian Shannon Miller and Tampa Bay Buccaneer Derrick Brooks were among the 200 guests who gathered inside the First United Methodist Church in St. Petersburg and rose from the pews as the regal strain of Trumpet Voluntary, the tune which famously accompanied Princess Diana's walk down the aisle in 1981, announced the arrival of the bride.

Following the exchange of vows, in which the newly dubbed Mrs. Crist received a diamond encrusted white gold wedding band from the Gold & Diamond Center to accompany the sapphire engagement ring which has graced her finger since July 3, 2008, the doors of the Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club's Grand Ballroom opened to family and friends for a reception.

Once pronounced husband and wife, the newlyweds began their new life together with a honeymoon excursion to the bride's homeland of Colombia.

Take a trip back in time to 2003 and relive the romance of Trista Rehn (The Bachelorette) and Ryan Sutter's wedding day:
The number 13 may be considered unlucky by some, but for fashion designer Pearl Lowe and Supergrass drummer Danny Goffey the digits mark the number of years happily spent together before their I do's. On December 4, 2008, the couple committed their lives to each other in the presence of family and friends during two wedding ceremonies held at Babington House, a Georgian-era manor in Somerset, England which has welcomed several star weddings over the years, including those of Natasha Kaplinsky to Justin Bower and Fat Boy Slim to Zoe Ball.
While many of the tomes which line the library in Babington House contain tales of romance and intrigue, perhaps none can match the love story of the couple who pledged their devotion in the room during a civil ceremony. Once pronounced husband and wife, the newlyweds later walked to an 18th century chapel on the 18-acre estate for a religious observance of their union.
The warm glow of 300 candles illuminating their path, the bride's daughters-- donning dresses draped with an overlay of black lace-- made their way down the aisle ahead of the bride, who clutched a bouquet of deep crimson roses as she walked toward the altar in a Gothic-tinged garment composed of black silk. The alternative attire, designed with long sleeves and a wedding band collar, harmonized with the groom's garb-- a classic black suit and tie.
To celebrate their new life together, the couple requested that Notting Hill star Rhys Ifans read a poem by e.e. cummings during the ceremony, which was witness by 80 guests, including singer Natalie Imbruglia, who gathered with the newlyweds' family and friends inside Babington House's dining room following the exchange of vows in order to toast the couple's happiness with spiced cider.
Extensive coverage of Pearl Lowe and Danny Goffey's wedding day can be found in the current issue of Hello! magazine.
Although his name now appears on the list of Grammy nominees for the Latin Pop Album of the Year award, singer/producer Tommy Torres has already won the most coveted prize of all-- the love of a lifetime. On November 28, 2008, the producer behind chart-topping hits by Ricky Martin, Ricardo Ajona and Jaci Velazquez pledged his devotion to actress Karla Monroig, his fiancee since a 2007 proposal at a Miami restaurant.
A multi-talented performer recognized as much for his work in front of a microphone as for his songwriting and producing abilities, Las Vegas-- The Entertainment Capital of the World-- was an apt choice for Mr. Torres and his bride when selecting their wedding locale. According to PrimeraHora.com, the happy couple opted for an intimate "I do," with a few friends and family members bearing witness to the culmination of a three-year romance.
In 2007, Big & Rich hit the top of the country charts with their ode to "I do," "Lost in This Moment." One year later, John Rich-- who co-penned the heartfelt ballad-- found himself living the song's lyrics as he watched his bride walk down the aisle. According to People magazine, two dozen guests gathered on the evening of December 6, 2008 to witness the singer exchange vows with his love of the past five years, former model Joan Bush,in the country music capital of the world, Nashville.
Following the nuptials, the newlyweds joined family and friends for a reception at Fontanel Mansion, a three-story log manor which was the filming site of the CMT reality series, Gone Country. This was not the first time that the former residence of music legend Barbara Mandrell opened its doors for the post-wedding festivities of a Top 40 recording artist. In 2003 the venue rang out with the laughter of the Judd family as crooner Wynonna Judd celebrated her marriage to D.R. Roach.

120308: Archduchess Marie-Christine of Austria's Wedding (Photo)
On the morning of December 6, 2008, Belgians gathered to give and receive presents in observance of St. Nicholas' Feast Day. That afternoon, Archduchess Marie-Christine of Austria and Count Rodolphe of Limburg Stirum also took part in the time-honored tradition, presenting each other with a gift that will last a lifetime-- their promise to love, honor and cherish each other as they pledged their devotion first in a civil ceremony, then a religious blessing of their marriage.
Although winter's chill has taken hold in the city of Mechelen, the beaming smile of the bride warmed the crowd as she clutched a bouquet of pale yellow roses interspersed with white and blue blossoms and strolled along a red carpet leading her inside Mechelen's City Hall.
One hour after being pronounced husband and wife in a civil ceremony, the newlyweds made their way to St. Rumbolds Cathedral to have their union blessed in the eyes of the church. Strolling down a red aisle runner, the bride passed by family and friends who rose in her honor, admiring her satin wedding ensemble by designer Yves Dooms. The beauty of the regal raiment was enhanced with the addition of a delicate heirloom lace veil which clung to a dainty tiara from the Luxembourg family.
Making their exit from the house of worship, the groom began their happily ever after by kissing his bride's cheek.

Just as a crimson carpet had marked the bride's path into the City Hall of Mechelen for the civil wedding ceremony, so a red aisle runner guided Archduchess Marie-Christine of Austria to the altar of St. Rumbolds Cathedral, where Count Rodolphe of Limburg Stirum waited to once again pledge his love.

Like all families celebrating a joyous occasion, Archduchess Marie-Christine and Count Rodolphe posed for posterity by their loved ones following their civil ceremony, which took place on the afternoon of December 6, 1008 at the City Hall of Mechelen in Belgium. One hour after the photo was taken, the bride and groom once again exchanged vows during a religious blessing of their union at St. Rumbolds Cathedral.

An apt choice for a winter wedding, the pages participating in the wedding of Archduchess Marie Christine and Count Rodolphe donned rich red velvet jackets for the occasion, paired with cream-colored trousers. Harmonizing with the boys in the procession were the junior bridesmaids, whose scarlet sashes added a touch of vibrancy to their ecru-hued dresses. Wreathes crowned the heads of each young girl, adding an angelic aura as they walked down the aisle.

White fur cuffs provided a touch of winter wonder to a wedding garment created by designer Yves Dooms. The gown's four meter-long train gently swept the aisle not only of Mechelen's town hall, but also the ancient aisle of St. Rumbolds Cathedral. The satin silhouette was paired with a diaphanous lace veil, the fabric once belonging to Empress Eugenie. Adding the crowning touch to the ensemble was a tiara from the Luxembourg family.
120208: The Driskill Hotel Stars in Jewel's Music Video
The life-size portrait of cattle baron Jesse Driskill has silently witnessed a number of love stories unfold over the passage of time as guests are welcomed at the lobby of The Driskill Hotel in Austin, Texas. In 1934 the fire of romance was lit between future President Lyndon Baines Johnson and the young woman he affectionately dubbed Lady Bird as they enjoyed their first date in the hotel's dining room, and in October 2008 Grammy Award winner Jewel added another chapter to the Lone Star sanctuary's romantic history as she filmed her latest music video, "Till It Feels Like Cheating."
If Austin is truly the Live Music Capital of the World, then 6th Street is the city's rhythmic pulse. While a medley of melodies from struggling musicians waft from venue to venue along the street on any given evening, once the glass doors of the downtown retreat closed only the sound of Jewel's country recording and the click of the singer/songwriter's fringe boots on the lobby's polished marble floor echoed as the cameras rolled on a video which also features a cameo from the star's husband, rodeo champion Ty Murray.
In the following clip from Austin's Fox News station, get a glimpse behind the scenes of the video shoot, then enjoy the finished product.
As a co-host of Primer Impacto, Barbara Bermudo is accustomed to reporting the day's news stories. On November 29, 2008, however, the TV journalist became the news as she said "I do" to her love of the past eight years, Mario Andres Moreno in a ceremony held at the Paradisus Palma Real hotel in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, Univision.com reported.
As the beams of the late afternoon sun illuminated their path, cherubic flower girls dressed in white sprinkled a carpet of fragrant white flower petals for the bride to follow as she made her way over a bridge which marked her transition from life as a single woman to that of wife to the man she loves. Her father there to guide her, the bride smiled as she walked past the many guests who had gathered in the hotel's garden for the happy occasion, including several members of her Univision family, such as Maria Elena Salinas, Lourdes Stephen and Tony Dandrades.
Standing in a gazebo with her groom, who had donned a white suit created by Alex Ladino, the folds on the skirt of the bride's Angel Sanchez wedding dress seemed to dance with her diaphanous veil in the breeze, mirroring the joy in the bride's heart as the couple pledged their devotion to each other.
Following the exchange of vows, the newlyweds joined their family and friends for a feast featuring both Latin and American dishes before sampling slices of a four-tier cake concocted by Cakes by EDDA, which provided a sweet start to the couple's new life together.
One month before the nuptials, Barbara Bermudo flashed the ring which adorned the third finger of her left hand:
