On May 6, 1950 the strains of “The Wedding March” was the cue for guests inside The Church of The Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills to rise from the pews as Elizabeth Taylor made her grand entrance in a white satin wedding dress created by MGM studio designer Helen Rose, who would go on to construct bridal attire for another queen of the silver screen when Grace Kelly became the wife of Prince Rainier. The look of the gown would create movie magic soon after the bride’s walk down the aisle, as the silver screen beauty had donned bridal attire almost identical to her own “I do” design for the comedy Father of The Bride.

Standing at the altar was Hilton Hotel heir Conrad “Nicky” Hilton, Jr. The couple parted ways in January 1951.
