An audience of church attendees were the first to hear the vocal talent of Ruben Studdard, who sang praise to the Lord at the age of three at the Rising Star Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. On June 28, 2008 another church audience in Birmingham will hear the voice of the Velvet Teddy Bear as the Grammy-nominated performer says "I do" to Surata Zuri McCants inside Canterbury United Methodist Church, a house of worship which offers wedding ceremonies both inside the chapel, which seats 120 guests, and the sanctuary, which can accommodate up to 1,000 friends and family members.

According to People magazine online, the American Idol season two winner will don a classic black tuxedo from menswear designer Joseph Abboud, whose stylish attire has been seen on sports stars Johnny Damon and Stefan Marbury as well as news anchor Tom Brokaw. The entertainer is pairing the dapper look with a white vest and bow tie. In keeping with tradition, the bride's ensemble will apparently remain a secret until she walks down the aisle.
