Embraced by the royals, Chelsy Davy made her first official public appearance with her long-time love Prince Harry as the camouflage-wearing lieutenant joined 170 members of his regiment at Combermere Barracks in Windsor, England on May 5, 2008. Her face beaming with pride, the blonde beauty took her place in the front row by her beau’s brother Prince William and his father Prince Charles and watched as Princess Anne pinned an Operational Service Medal on the third in line to the throne in recognition of the 10 weeks he served in Afghanistan. (The young prince’s tour of duty, which was to last four months. was reluctantly cut short when the media divulged the news of his whereabouts.)
Following the ceremony, the regiment marched through the street to thunderous applause from on-lookers who lined the route to Holy Trinity Church, a 19th century Parish and Garrison house of worship deemed “the church on the roundabout” by Windsor residents. Once inside, the soldiers bowed their heads both in thanks for their safe return and in remembrance of the service men and women who have fallen in the line of duty.
Royal watchers may soon see Chelsy Davy at another royal occasion, as the Daily Mail reports that the Leeds University student has received an invitation to the wedding of Princess Anne’s son Peter Phillips and his bride-to-be Autumn Kelly, which will take place at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 17, 2008.
