7312007: Football Star Ian Johnson's Idaho Wedding

Although millions of football fans looked on when Boise State running back Ian Johnson knelt on the playing field at the Fiesta Bowl on New Years Day and asked for cheerleader Chrissy Popadics hand in marriage, July 28, 2007 was a day set aside for family and friends as the couple, who had endured a barrage of racist threats in the days leading up to their nuptials, said "I do" at the Cathedral of the Rockies First United Methodist Church in Boise, Idaho. Bridesmaids in blue, each clutching a single calla lily, walked down the aisle before the strains of Mendelssohn's Wedding March began to play, prompting the wedding guests to rise as the bride made her entrance. The cheerleader held on to her grandfather's Bible as she walked to the altar in a white, strapless wedding dress, its beauty enhanced with the addition of a dainty tiara which fastened to the diaphanous veil that trailed behind her.

Exchanging rings in the presence of those they hold dear, the couple symbolized their love by lighting a unity candle and jumping the broom before exiting the house of worship to the sight of tiny bubbles, playfully formed by their guests, dancing in the air around them as the newlyweds made their way to their waiting limousine.
