One hundred years ago, the reverential refrains of Catholic hymns echoed through the halls of St. Vibiana’s Cathedral. On November 29, 2007, however, the merengue-tinged melody of Kat DeLuna‘s hit “Whine Up” reverberated inside the Los Angeles landmark as the 19-year-old singer performed for the assemblage of A-listers on hand for the Movies Rock kick-off party, presented by GUESS and Conde Nast Media Group. The former house of worship, which was awarded a new life as a performing arts center in 2005 and has since become a coveted L.A. wedding locale, opened its doors for an actress who is currently planning her own walk down the aisle, Elisabeth Rohm of “Law & Order” fame, who mingled with fellow guests Debbie Matenopoulos, the co-host of E!’s “The Daily 10,” actress Olivia Wilde, one-time “Dancing With the Stars” contestant Stacy Keibler and “Desperate Housewives” cast member Andrea Bowen. Her knee-high boots taking her past the venue’s ornate Baroque columns, former “Roswell” star Shiri Appleby, whose face will grace the big screen when Charlie Wilson’s War premieres on December 21, 2007, looked casually chic in a black and white ensemble, while Haylie Duff chose a one-shoulder silhouette for the evening.
