The warm glow of the same neon sign which has welcomed guests to Dr. Wilkinson’s Hot Springs Resort since 1952 beamed for actress Alicia Silverstone and her husband Christopher Jarecki as the couple drove to the entrance of the Calistoga, California retreat in late August 2007. According to People magazine online, the blonde beauty, whose face has been projected on the big screen in such hits as “Beauty Shop” and “Clueless,” had her pores purified at the resort’s facial cottage, a serene sanctuary adjacent to the venue’s spa facilites, where guests rejuvenate both body and soul with with steam room sessions, massages and mud baths composed of volcanic ash, mineralized hot springs water and Canadian peat. Patrons staying at the resort can step back in time to a more genteel era in one of the five guest rooms in the Victorian house, get away from it all in one of the many bungalows or enjoy the retro romance of the motel-inspired courtyard rooms.
