Robert Downey, Jr. Weds

Who: actor Robert Downey, Jr. and movie producer Susan Levin

When: August 27, 2005

Where: Vows were exchanged in an outdoor ceremony held in the evening hours on a private estate in Amagansett, New York.

The Ceremony: The day after gathering at The Point restaurant with long time friends Sarah Jessica Parker and Rosanna Arquette for a rehearsal dinner, the wedding party converged at Windy Dunes, a private estate in Amagansett, Long Island, where 150 guests, including Keanu Reeves, Sting and Billy Joel watched as the bride and groom stood beneath the shelter of a white gazebo, the groom slipping a wedding band on to his bride's finger which would accompany a diamond and African sapphire engagement ring.

The Dress: Although the wedding was rumored to be a Flapper-era, "Great Gatsby"-influenced affair, the bride's gown, fashioned with a plunging V-neck and a short train, conjured up visions of 1930's screen goddess Jean Harlow. A diaphanous veil with a serged edge added an ethereal touch to the garment. To harmonize with the groom, Susan carried a bouquet composed of white and purple flowers.

His hair styled by Frederick Fekkai, the groom cut a dashing figure in a dark, pin-striped suit which he paired with a lavender tie and scarf of a similar hue for a splash of color. To further emphasize his unique sense of fashion, the actor chose a pair of sneakers to complete his ensemble.

The Reception: Attendees sampled slices of a wedding cake created by Soho-based confectionary king Ron Ben-Israel as they enjoyed musical performances from fellow guests Sting, who took to the mike for a rendition of "Every Breath You Take," and Piano Man Billy Joel, who crooned "Just The Way You Are" for the newlyweds. Salmon crepes were served the following day at a wedding brunch held at the Jean-Luc East restaurant, a posh eatery in the Hamptons where palm fronds and birds-of-paradise blossoms drape over tables to instill a Caribbean ambiance.
