Who: rap
singer Juvenile and Shadonna Jones
When: September 4, 2004
Where: The Victory Fellowship Church in Metairie, Louisiana
The Ceremony: Last minute touches made the bride fashionably
late (2 1/2 hours late, to be exact) to the chapel in
order to wed Louisiana-born rapper Juvenile, known to family
as Terius Grey. To quell the hunger pangs of hundreds of guests
impatient for the start of what was to be a 6 pm ceremony, fast
food from a restaurant in the area was ordered. The wait paid
off in the end, however, as the congregation was treated to
a performance during the nuptials by soul singer Brian
McKnight.
The Dress: A white, body-hugging silk gown
with delicate spaghetti straps by New York-based designer Demitrios
was accented by a diaphanous, elbow-length veil attached to
the bride's hair, which was arranged in a chignon. The sparkle
of diamonds in Shadonna's necklace and tiara competed with the
dazzling ice which studded the groom's walking stick, designed
by Jacob The Jeweler.
The singer eschewed a traditional tuxedo, opting instead for
a gold suit offset with a pink rose boutonniere. A chapeau the
same hue as the rapper's suit was donned at the reception to
add flair to the ensemble.
The Reception: Guests dined on fillet
mignon and chocolate fondue at The Pontchartrain Center, which
was awash in a sea of blossoms and decorated with intricately
carved ice sculptures. During the festivities, the entertainer
informed his new wife of their future home, which will be constructed
on twenty-five scenic acres on the outskirts of LaPlace, Louisiana.
