Who:
Jill Whelan and Michael Chaykowsky
When: April 2, 2004
Where: aboard the Caribbean Princess cruise ship in Fort
Lauderdale, Florida
The Ceremony: A long-term friendship blossomed into love
on New Years 2003, and the happy couple decided to
celebrate their new life together in a ceremony filled
with sentimental recognition of the bride's early days aboard
"The Love Boat". Seven bridesmaids, which included
the bride's sister, were escorted down from the luxury liner's
upper deck to the tune of "Somewhere Out There", while
the bride chose the love theme from "Somewhere In Time"
to walk down the aisle. The nuptials were witnessed by
138 guests, and romantics around the world were able to view
the ceremony via a live webcast.
The Dress: Pink was the order of the day, with the
bridesmaids dressed in varying hues of the color, while the
bride opted for a light pink Mika Inatome gown with
a delicate overlay of chiffon, which was generously sprinkled
with pearls and Swarovski crystals.
The Ring: Jill Whelan sells her own brand of rings
and pendants, "The Bon Voyage Collection: Resort Wear Jewelry
for The Seasoned Traveler", and the bride's wedding ring
was provided by Jewelry Television, the television channel
which carries her line of adornments.
The Reception: The newlyweds danced to the nostalgic
favorite "At Last" while "Love Boat"
alumni Gavin MacLeod, who portrayed the Jill's TV father on
the popular '70's show, and former castmate Bernie Kopell, enjoyed
the festivities. Before setting sail on a seven day honeymoon
with stops in Cozumel, Jamaica, Princess Cay, and the Grand
Cayman, the bride christened the cruise line's most majestic
vessel The Caribbean Princess.
