This has been a busy week here at Lovetripper with lots of new projects on the horizon and lots of hot weather on the horizon, too!
The week began with a quick trip to San Antonio to pop in on the Dallas Cowboys training camp which was being held at the Alamodome.
While we were in town, we had, of course, to stop by our favorite restaurant, Mi Tierra, located in the city’s Market Square.
The restaurant is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and decorated with Christmas ornaments and lights year around. The front of the restaurant is a huge panadaria with every kind of Mexican baked good you could hope for and the restaurant itself is always packed with diners and wandering mariachis. Don’t miss it if you visit San Antonio!
We returned home and got to work on several big book projects–checking the final page proofs for our Day Trips from Austin guidebook which heads to the printer this week, working on our new book for dog owners, Barkonomics: Tips for Frugal Fidos (with tips for saving money when you travel with your dog or board your dog while you travel), and made plans for the revision of our Texas Barbecue book!
Then on Thursday we headed to Austin’s historic Paramount Theatre (which is in the news every year during the SXSW Film Festival); we were there to see a great Beatles tribute band named 1964….The Tribute.
One thing we noted in our article about the show in our sister site, TexasTripper.com, was that, while the band transported the audience to the Sixties for a couple of hours, there was no doubt that we had NOT been transported out of Texas. When we left the theater at 10:30 that night and headed to our car in the covered parking garage, the thermometer read a very toasty 118.
Happy weekend! Paris and John
