California Marriage Regulations Weddings are quick and easy to arrange in this state. Lines can be long at the county clerk's office in some big cities, though, so budget plenty of time! Applications and/or Documents Required: Bring along original copies of the following (and be sure pack these in your hand luggage, never in your checked bags): photo id certified birth certificates (not required for all counties, but some require it) additional information required: your mother's maiden name, place of birth proof of divorce, death or annulment, if applicable Residency Requirements: none Waiting Period: none Witnesses: one Blood Test: No blood test is required. Confidential ceremonies: You may request a confidential ceremony in California. The license costs the same as a traditional license but you will not need a witness; the record of your marriage will only be accessible by the two of you or by a judge's decree. To obtain this, you'll need to request a Certificate of Confidential Marriage. (Surprised? Don't forget that this is the state where many celebs say their "I Do's"...and many don't want the word to leak out before they're ready to go public.) Related
