How to Get Married in Trinidad and Tobago Trinidad and Tobago
recently revised its long-standing laws on marriage. Today, visitors
need only be in the country for three days before applying for
the wedding license. To qualify for this special wedding license,
both parties must be non-residents of Trinidad and Tobago. Paperwork Requirements:
Youll need to show proof of residence (both passports
and airline tickets), identification, (again, your passport),
an original or notarized copy of "decree absolute" if
divorced, original death certificate if widowed. All your documents
must be in English or must be a notarized English translation.
If youve changed your name, youll need to show a deed
poll or other proof of the name change. Cost: The marriage license costs TT$337.50 (US$55) which is payable in cash or in postage stamps obtainable from the General Post Office. Obtaining Your
Marriage License: In Trinidad, youll obtain the marriage
license at the Registrar Generals Office, The Red House,
Abercromby Street, Port of Spain (Tel. 868.623.24500). In Tobago,
you can obtain the marriage license at the Registrar Generals
Office, Jerningham Street, Scarborough (Tel. 868.639.3210) or
at the Wardens Office, IDC Mall, Scarborough, (Tel. 868.639.2410). Related
