How to Get Married in Bermuda

Process for Obtaining Marriage License: At least two weeks prior to your trip, couples need to request a "Notice of Intended Marriage" form from Bermuda’s Registrar General’s Office (441.297.7709 or 441.297.7707), or from a Bermuda Department of Tourism office. You can download the form here. The completed form is mailed to the Registrar General, Government Administration Building, 30 Parliament Street, Hamilton HM 12 Bermuda.

Once your payment is received, notice will be published three times in the local newspapers by the registry staff. A two week period will elapse before your marriage license is issued. At that time, the marriage license will be valid for three months from the date of issue. You can pick up the license in person (or have someone pick it up for you.)

Cost: US$220

Necessary Paperwork: You’ll need to send photocopies of the final divorce decree if either of you has been married previously.

Witnesses: Two witnesses are required; each must be at least 18 years of age. Hotels and wedding coordinators on island can provide witnesses if the two of you are traveling alone.

Civil Ceremonies: If you want a civil ceremony in Bermuda, you’ll need to have it performed by the Registrar General in the Hamilton office.

Religious Ceremonies: Religious ceremonies can be performed at numerous places around the island, however Catholic weddings are only permitted for residents and travelers with close ties to the island..

For More Information: You’ll find an extensive site on Bermuda weddings on the official tourism website at www.bermudatourism.com. Click on "Weddings and Honeymoons" then select weddings in the next frame. You’ll be presented with a choice of wedding consultants, jewelers, videographers, and even local bands.
