You don't have to wait until Valentine's Day to celebrate love. All ninety-two of Bed & Breakfast Inns of Missouri (BBIM) offer the perfect respite to realize, regain and revitalize the romance in your life. These inspected and approved B&B's specialize in the art of romance, offering everything from two-person whirlpool tubs to crackeling fireplaces, chilled champagne, automatic candles, and even rose petals on the bed. Leave it to BBIM-innkeepers to know just what it takes to provide the most ideal romantic experience. Every BBIM member has a story to tell about how a guest found or restored love on during their getaway. Honeymoons, anniversaries, even husbands-making-up-to-wives and vice versa have all been celebrated year after year at BBIM member inns. While every one is dedicated to the art of romance, here are a few examples of how BBIM member-inns create romance. The Hatchery House (Weston, MO 1-816-640-5700) - In the 1930's this home was converted into a boarding house. Often, newlyweds and young couples occupied the apartments here, conceiving their children while living there. Consequently, the townsfolk nicknamed it "The Hatchery" for the hatching of babies. Now a B&B for over two decades, this name has held, and while young couples no longer live there, many visit and enjoy the romance of guest rooms, some with a fireplace and 2-person jacuzzi. The Yates House (Rocheport, MO 1-573-698-2129) - The Yates House, a lovely reproduction of a roadside inn, is home to the true Valentine Room. While high in demand on the actual day, the Valentine Room fosters romance throughout the year, where framed antique Valentines speak to a simplier time in our lives are found throughout the room. Aunt Sadie's Garden Glade (Branson, MO 1-800-944-4250) - Here at the end of a road just outside Branson's hub bub of musical theatres and attractions, guests can unwind in cabins that are geared entirely toward romance. Some featuring both an indoor and an outdoor 2-person jacuzzi, fireplaces and kitchenettes, you'll find everything you need to set the mood, right down to a stereo system with a selection of CD's in each cabin. Even the mirrors have been ideally situated to insure reflection into your courtship. The Dickey House (Marshfield, MO 1-800-450-7444) - Not only have two Presidents, 12 senators and countless movie stars discovered The Dickey House, but newly-weds, anniversary-celebrants and those in search of rest and romance escape to this Greek Revival Mansion, located just 20 miles outside Springfield. Innkeepers Larry & Michaline Stevens have taken great care to capture romance in every corner, from the gazebo, which hosts many small weddings to the pampered luxury found throughout. Romancing The Past (Fulton, MO 1-800-(573)592-1996) - Just as its name implies, this B&B has captured the romance of the Victorian era. Every room is dedicated to reliving the romance of yesteryear, right down to a basket of love poems and reflections on love that lie alongside the beds. A beautiful garden in back offers plenty of hideaways for those in search of time together. The Woodstock Inn (Independence, MO 1-800-276-5202) - This lovely inn, located in President Truman's former home, Independence, Missouri, boasts some of the most luxurious suites and rooms you can find anywhere. Ammenities inculde TV's and VCR's, mini bars, cozy terry robes and much more. This is a wonderful place to enjoy all that Kansas City and historic Independence have to offer, then return to your respite for romance at the end of the day. Among other special romantic touches you'll find at BBIM member inns is rose petals, chilled champagne and 20-lit candles found upon returning to your room after dinner, if you request the Romance Package at Walnut Street Inn (in Springfield, MO 1-800-593-6346). Add that to a thermal soaking tub, King bed, fireplace and private front porch, and youÜve got a romantic hideaway.
