Passports & Your Destination Wedding

continued from page 1

Planning a destination wedding outside the US? Don't forget that all your wedding guests will also need passports!

If you're sending out a wedding newsletter, be sure to mention this fact right away. The longer you give guests to do all the paperwork, the more likely they'll be able to attend.

Remember, any children in your wedding party will also need passports. Children under age 14 have special rules for passports; check out this page of the US State Department site for all the details:

http://www.travel.state.gov/passport/get/minors/minors_834.html

Along with the requirements for an adult passport, children also must have a parent present when making the application. The parent has to prove he or she is the parent, through one of these identification methods:

Valid Drivers License

Valid Official U.S. Military ID

Valid U.S. Gov't ID

Valid U.S. or Foreign Passport with recognizable photo

Naturalization/Citizenship Certificate from BCIS with recognizable photo

Alien Resident Card from BCIS

And, if only one parent is present when the passport is issued, the second parent will need to send a special form granting consent for the passport to be issued. Check this page for all the details and the download:
