Seven Super Reasons to Pick Puerto
Vallarta for a Honeymoon or Romantic Getaway
1) Weather!
Winter getaways here mean warm days and sultry nights.
Summer can be hot, hot, hot--but great for long swims and cold margaritas.
2) Easy Access
Quick and frequent air connections from the US make a
trip here simple, even if the two of you can only make it for a short
getaway. Count on two hour flights from Houston, three hour flights
from LA.
3) World-Class Dining
More than any other Mexican beach destination, Puerto
Vallarta is home to a wide array of gourmet restaurants. Sure you'll
find plenty of tacos and enchiladas, but you'll also find top notch
eateries featuring cuisine from around the world. The city hosts an
annual gourmet festival but any night of the week you'll find lots of
romantic options (and at prices far lower than their counterparts in
most areas of Europe.)
4) Bustling Nightlife
Pick your activity level -- mild to wild -- for your
evenings out. Busy bars like Señor Frog's or Carlos 'n Charlies
throb with a spring break scene while discos like Christine's keep the
dance floor moving. For something more subdued, try the romantic Nikki
Beach Club, where the two of you can share a romantic bed lounger right
on the sand as you listen to live music and sip a tropical drink (try
the house specialty--the mojitos.) Nikki Beach Club is located at the
Westin resort.
5) Beaches, beaches, beaches
Wide swaths of sand invite the two of you to lounge the
day away. Los Muertos Beach is the most popular; don't miss restaurants
like La Palapa where you can enjoy a meal then spend the day on a chaise
lounger on the sand. Waiter service will bring you buckets of iced beer,
snacks, or whatever you choose.
6) Spas
Treat yourselves to spa treatments at one of PV's excellent
spas. The two of you can opt for a romantic couple's massage in a candlelit
room for two at the Westin or a whole menu of spa treatments at the
elegant Quinta Real.
7) Romantic History
Walk in the footsteps of one of history's most famous
celebrity couples--Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. This famous
duo came to Puerto Vallarta when Burton filmed The Night of the Iguana
here; today you can visit the set or tour the couple's former home.
