The Wedding Night

Depending on your travel arrangements and the time of your wedding, you may want to consider booking a hotel for the first night or two between the wedding and your honeymoon trip. This can give the two of you time to catch your breath, talk about the excitement of the wedding, and anticipate the fun of your honeymoon for a short period, helping to prevent the whole event from becoming a blur.

Some couples opt for a wedding night hotel close to the airport, especially desirable if you have an early departure or just would like the chance to catch a little more shuteye or leisurely enjoy your first breakfast together as husband and wife. Others opt for the cozy comfort of a B&B or the elegance of a luxury hotel that can pamper you with room service breakfast the next morning.

You’ll also need to ask yourselves some nuts and bolts questions to help make the transition from wedding to honeymoon. For example:

  • Who will handle the wedding gifts?
  • Who will handle your wedding gown and items?
  • How will you transfer from the wedding site to your hotel?
  • How will you get from the hotel to the airport to start your honeymoon?
