FAQ: Questions for Each
Other about Cruises
Sit down with your sweetie and go over this list
of cruise questions if you are considering a cruise honeymoon. The two
of you have a full menu of cruise types to choose from: large, small,
relaxing, adventurous--pick the one that's right for both of you!
How much exploring do we want to do?
How much relaxing do we plan do to?
Where would we like to cruise?
Youll find cruises all over the globe: Caribbean, Mediterranean,
South Pacific, Alaska, Galapagos, Amazon, you name it!
What type of ship would we like?
Just as the destinations vary, so do the cruise ships themselves. Some
are mega-ships that are essentially hotels on the sea; they offer multiple
dining venues, shops, nightly shows and grand revues, and often casinos.
Youll also find small ships that take about 100 passengers. Youll
have more opportunity to meet your fellow passengers and getting on and
off the ship is far less of a production than aboard the large liners.
Would we like a river cruise?
River cruises, whether along European waterways or down the Amazon, have
the advantage of calmer waters. These cruises are smaller and often have
an emphasis on ecology, history, or culture.
Do we want a cruise with an emphasis on nature and history?
Alaska, Amazon, Nile, Galapagos, and other cruises often have naturalists
or archaeologists onboard to help point out items of interest.
Are there full days at sea with no port stops? Would
we like this time for relaxation or would we be bored?
What kind of atmosphere do we want? A party atmosphere?
Relaxing? Active and adventurous?
Do we want to take all our meals in one dining area?
Small ships have a single dining area; large cruise ships have multiple
dining venues including specialty restaurants.
Where do we want to travel?
Do either one of us have a problem with seasickness?
Larger cruise ships have stabilizers which minimize any ship movement.
Also, river cruises experience little movement. If you have a problem
with seasickness, you may want to think carefully about small ship cruising;
these can experience a lot of motion.
