Mine House Inn

Amador City, California, USA

Tucked right in the midst of California's Gold Rush Country, the Mine House Inn offers couples romantic accommodations and plenty of luxury as well. We recently spoke with owner/innkeeper Rose Mendy about the inn's most romantic aspects.

Describe your most romantic room.

Our most romantic room is the "French Romance Suite". It is located in our new Victorian Home. The suite features 450 square feet with a Louis the XV bedroom set, a three way fireplace in front of the whirlpool tub for two, a wet/bar, speakers with ceiling speakers, TV/VCR and soft luxury robes.

Pretend you are a couple visiting your property for the first time. What would you plan for your special weekend?

If we were a couple planning a visit for the first time, we would love the fact that we had a choice of breakfast to our room, dining room or by the waterfall. We would book the on-site Limo and tour the wineries with the gourmet picnic basket. In the evening after lounging by the Pool and Spa we would decide to dine in the elegant dining room or have the dinner basket to our room. A tour of the near museums, and gold mine tours would highlight our Gold Country visit and of course hit all the antique shops.

What are some of the most unique aspects of your property?

As far as our unique aspects, there are several: Our Inn is the only bed & breakfast Inn that used to be the actual offfices of an operating mine in the USA. The names of the rooms in the 1870's building are named after their original function such as the Mill Grinding Room, the Assay Room, and the Vault Room which still contains the original vault where the gold bullion was stored. We have added two buildings, one is where the former superintendents that ran the operation used to live and the other our new Victorian which now features our "Gold Room" Dining Room. The dining room is opened Friday thru Tuesday and serves gourmet 3 to 6 course dinners. Oue menu may be viewed onour web site.

What's a typical breakfast at your B&B?

A typical breakfast at the Mine House Inn includes a homebaked egg casserole or quiche, fresh baked muffins or breads, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, coffee or tea.

What the best time of year to visit your property?

The best time to visit our propery is Spring (daffodils), Summer(we have a Pool) or Fall (the fall colors of the Sierra Foothills). Of course in the winter we are only 1 hour from Kirkwood Ski Resort.

Are there any local festivals or special events of special interest to romantic travelers?

There are many festivals throughout the year and small theater. Both indoors in historic buildings or an outdoor theater.

Do you host weddings at your property?

Yes, we do host small weddings, group meetings, family reunions, etc. We specialize in small romantic weddings indoors of up to 25 persons or outdoors up to 50. We have a beautiful waterfall for outdoor weddings or a romantic setting by the fireplace in our Gold Room. The wedding package may include a night stay in the any suite, champagne & gift basket on arrival, breakfast in room, fresh flowers, massages for two, etc. We tailor the packages to the couples desires to make their stay unforgettable.
