Located right on the Bay, this resort offers swaying palms and sultry sunsets: perfect for a romantic getaway or a honeymoon (or even a wedding!) Lovetripper recently spoke with Kathy Patton, Assistant Manager at Amy Slate's Amoray Dive Resort about the attractions of this special resort.

Describe your most romantic room.

We have two waterfront apartments with a queen bedroom and 2 trundles, full baths, and large balcony porches with hammocks and furniture overlooking the bay. Couples can snuggle in the hammock and enjoy the sunset!

Pretend you are a couple visiting your property for the first time. What would you plan for your special weekend?

A combination of romance, excitement, and lots of fun. Check in to your room at Amoray, and once you are settled, make reservations for a candlelight dinner at one of several waterfront restaurants within minutes of the resort. Go for a walk along the waterfront deck and watch the sunset before your dinner. Plan a diving or snorkeling trip on board the Amoray Diver or our platinum service 6 passenger "JUST IN TIME" , the "JUST IN TIME" also offers eco tours and champagne sunset cruises. If you've never been diving, take an instruction class with your partner and learn to dive together. Fun and exciting water sport activities are just around the corner - rent jetskis, go parasailing, or take a kayak tour of the mangroves!  

What are some of the most unique aspects of your property?

Amoray has been featured on Geraldo, The Wedding Story, and with People Magazine.  A production company recently shot footage for an upcoming episode of the children's show, Zoom, that included a local teen skin diving off the Amoray Diver, and talking about the coral reef system.  

What the best time of year to visit your property?

Anytime!  We offer the best seat in town for the fireworks displays over the bay during New Year's and Fourth of July. Summertime brings long days of sunshine perfect for an afternoon of diving or snorkeling. The days are just slightly cooler in the fall - walks along the waterfront are lovely then. We organize underwater pumpkin carving contests for Halloween, and our December guests can have the opportunity to celebrate Christmas in the Caribbean!  

Are there any local festivals or special events of special interest to
romantic travelers?

Island Jubilee takes place right here in Key Largo in November.  Hearty revelers can head to Key West, only a hundred miles south, for the famous "FantasyFest" week-long party, in October.  There are fishing tournaments, cook-offs, taste tests, or some sort of day-long festival taking place almost every weekend.  

Do you host weddings at your property?

What could be more romantic than an island wedding?  Picture your wedding framed by a spectacular sunset on the bay as you stand along the waterfront deck.  The wind whispers through the palms and the occasional seagulls call punctuates your ceremony.  Perhaps you prefer a ceremonies onboard the Amoray Diver, or for a special touch, consider a sunset charter for both wedding and reception.  Like to be different?  Certified divers can be united in marriage underwater!  Couples can make personalized arrangements for flowers, catering, and photography - our staff can point you in the right direction.
