TIPS AND SIDETRIPS:
HOTEL LITTLE PALACE, 9 Avenue Baquis, 06000 Nice,
tel. 93.88.70.49. Charming French guest rooms with double beds, flowered
wall coverings, telephones, private baths; rooms facing the street have
french doors opening onto tiny balcony. The hotel is run by friendly
owners who welcome American and Canadian guests regularly. Located midway
between the Promenade des Anglais and the train station, within easy
walking distance of both, as well as cafes, restaurants, bakeries and
other shops. Present rate approximately $75-$80 with bath.
TRAINS: There are six SNCF trains daily from Paris'
Gare de Lyon to Nice; the station in Nice is located on Avenue Thiers
and between Rue Gounod, Auber and Rue Durante, a continuation of Rue
Baquis.
BUSES: The Gare Routier (bus station) is located
just north of the esplanade separating the Boulevard Jean Jaures and
